Roughwork is a service of Relato Labs, Inc. (“we”, “us”, “our”), a corporation organized under the laws of the State of Delaware, with its principal place of business at 2261 Market Street, 10209, San Francisco, CA 94114.
Roughwork is a math tutor for iPad: you write your work by hand, Roughwork marks it and keeps track of what you have mastered (the “Service”). These Terms govern your use of the Service, including the app and the roughwork.app website. By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to them, do not use the Service.
The Service is for your personal, non-commercial use. You must be old enough to agree to these Terms where you live. The Service is not directed to children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use the Service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
You sign in with Apple. You are responsible for keeping access to that Apple account secure, because it is what gets you into yours. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time — under your name in the top right. Deleting removes your work and your account, and it cannot be undone.
The mathematics you write stays yours. You give us permission to store it, to send the page for marking, and to use it to run the Service for you — working out what to give you next, bringing things back for review, and looking into a mark you think is wrong. Nothing here transfers ownership of your work to us.
The marking is done by an AI model and it is sometimes wrong. On our own testing it flags correct work as wrong roughly three times in a hundred, and it occasionally accepts working that is not right. Treat it as a well-informed second opinion on your own page, not as an examiner.
The Service is a study aid. It is not a qualification, not a substitute for a teacher, and no result it shows you is a formal assessment of anything.
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose; to disrupt or interfere with it, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to it, to its systems, or to anybody else’s account or work; to submit content that is not yours to submit; or to violate the rights of others through it.
The lessons, exercises, software and design of the Service are and remain the property of Relato Labs, Inc. and its licensors. Using the Service does not grant you a right to use the Roughwork or Relato names, logos or marks without our agreement.
Nothing in the Service costs money today. If we introduce paid features we will publish their prices and payment terms before you can buy anything, and no charge will apply without your agreement.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which sets out exactly what we collect, how long we keep it, and who it is shared with — including that the page you submit is sent to a third-party AI model to be marked.
You can stop using the Service at any time, and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the same extent, Relato Labs, Inc. will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it.
We may modify these Terms. When we do we will post the updated Terms here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the Service after they take effect means you agree to them.
